Introducing pacifier

My baby is 3 weeks and 2 days old and I decided to try giving him a pacifier. He sucks on it for a little and then spits it out and he keeps making a face when I put it in his mouth like it's very gross. Anyone has any tips on how to get him to take it? I only tried a couple times but I don't know if I'm doing it right.
