Progesterone Only (mini pill)

i just started progesterone only birth control about 2 weeks ago. my period is about 1 1/2 weeks late now and i am sexually active. should i bother with a pregnancy test or do you honk it's because i started this new bc? Also i heard you don't get a period on this pill is that true as well? thanks!!
