At what age do you think you should start making most of your decisions?

I think it's important to start teaching decision making as soon as they can indicate an interest in, well, anything. The earliest example I can think of is nipple biting. Want to nurse? You choose to bite you don't get to... You choose to be nice and you get to nurse. Or like when I'd go shopping for sippies, I'd hold up two options and let them choose. You just keep adding on different things as they become age appropriate, and really by the time they hit their teens (13) they should be extremely capable at decision making. By 16 I'd say you're really just there to be a guide and help them when they fall, so at 18 they can fly.

I definitely feel like 18 is too late (in most cases). By 17, you should definitely have more responsibility.

16 when you become and adult, I started at 14 which taught me to be independent but I always run through things with my mam before making huge decisions but she never gave me input she just listened

Start at like 16, unless they're decisions that are going to severely impact their future.

I think around 16 they should start thinking about their futures and what they want. Giving them some responsibilities like making their own doctors appts and getting a job/volunteering. Things that can help them be more independent while still being under the parents roof. 
When i was 16 I got a summer job, but since I was 16 i couldnt have my own bank account. So my dad opened up a savings account under his name, each week we cashed my check and I kept like 40-50$ for myself and we put the rest in the savings account. Then when i got a job at a grocery store id work after school, but we still kept the same money deal going on even tho I was 17 and could have a "student account". Sometimes Id say "hey i wanna go shopping this weekend im gonna keep 120 from my check" and he would totally agree. He wasnt keeping my money from me, he was keeping it safe. Finally my job went paperless so I got my own account and linked up direct deposit, in a little less than 2 years my dad helped me save almost 7,000 dollars. I didnt have bills, anything like that, so I was just saving all these paychecks for when I did need it. I think it was a great lesson he taught me, and it let me be independent and have a job and my own money, but he helped me prepare for the future.
