Where do contractions hurt? Whole belly or just lower part?

I think I have contractions today as it sometimes feels like I am going to have my period. I was expecting my whole belly to contract and hurt but it seems to contract more or less from top to bottom but only hurts above the pubis. Are these contractions? During active labor, where do you feel them?

Mine with both were like being stabbed in the middle of the belly with a knife. Started in the middle and then rolled around to my back.

Nothing on the internet was spot on during real labor. I felt them in my back, then my upper belly, sometimes low. It depended on my position. If it's a real contraction, you'll know regardless of where it is. It will be like you're going to have the most explosive diarrhea of your life. Take the period shits cramps and make them last for over a minute and in various places. When my contractions were real I only wanted to count during them.

I was thinking the same. I had my bloody show this morning and since I've had lower back pain and the odd pain across the front just above my pubic bone as if I was having bad menstrual pains 🤔
