Does being consider obese mean your pregnancy is high risk?

I think it would depend of the the level of obesity. If a person is morbidly obese with related health problems then those health problems are likely to mean they have a high risk pregnancy. I'd say it just depends on the persons individual case

There a lot of other factors other than weight that goes into being considered "high risk"; a history of gestational diabetes in your family or regular diabetes, a history of preeclampsia, high blood pressure or hypertension, certain genetic disorders (Down Syndrome comes with some complications) etc.
Those are sometimes associated with a higher weight, but it's a misconception because anyone can develop those during pregnancy.
A good number of those things aren't determined till later on in the pregnancy.

I think it depends on your doctor. I have a neighbor who had zero complications, but because she was morbidly obese, she had to see a high risk doctor and her OB. The high risk doctor eventually released to her OB, and she had a great delivery.

Definitely not. You can be obese and have a healthy pregancy versus someone who isn't obese. Being obese only puts you at a higher risk for complications. But it doesn't mean you are high risk.

No.  My previous pregnancy weight is "overweight" but I'm not considered high risk.

I'm not sure. I'm having a healthy, textbook pregnancy according to my OB but my paperwork and referrals always say monitoring of high risk pregnancy. No GD, HBP or anything, and at 34 weeks I've only gained 9 pounds my whole pregnancy so who knows how they determine it.
