Circumcision?

Question

I'm not looking for anyone telling me the benefits or risks to doing it. I know all that. I'm just curious how many women are or aren't having it done because I'm not. Again, I don't want to hear about why I should or shouldn't. So please don't comment if you're going to say anything like that. Reasons behind why you  personally choosing to or not to are perfectly fine though! I just wanna know :)

I am not having my son circumcised. I am a NICU nurse and I have seen numerous quickly and poorly done circumcisions that later had to be fixed by a specialist. In my experience, I have also seen many babies in pain after the anesthetic wears off. Based on my personal experiences plus the AAP no longer recommending routine circumcisions, I will not be having my son circumcised.

No! I don't see a reason to put my son through that if I don't have to. Later in life if my son decides that's what he wants then he can. Also if a medical reason comes up I will.

Having a boy, and because I don't have a penis, I left it up to my SO. I don't think women really should get to choose when we will never see it from the male perspective.

I'm not sure what I am having yet but my husband and I have talked about it multiple times and we both agreed if we did have a boy he would be circumcised I have been back and forth about it I don't want to put my baby through unnecessary pain, but at the same time my dad recently had to have one (he's 68) due to complications of it getting infected and what not.... I think that is because he is a bigger man though and didn't clean himself like he should (gross I know all this about my dad I know lol) I think everybody is entitled to do with THEIR child as they please!!!!

Wow I am so surprised to see how many women and men decide not to do the circumcision, I support either way a family chooses but it's so weird how now a days that's just to automatic go to thing, no one seems to question it but it's good to see some people are challenging it.

My boyfriend isn't and it doesn't bother me one bit. I love him the way he is. It's totally your choice😊 you'll love him no matter if he is or isn't🙂

I was back and forth for a long time. I ended up doing it based off personal experiences since I work in the medical field. I still go back and forth weather I made the right choice or not, but I think I would have done that anyways. It's so hard to know as a mom since I don't own one!

I didn't with my son becuase my ex wasn't and didn't believe in it. I was a teen and had really only seen one lol. Now that I'm older I regret not having had it done because it seems like the norm in the US and I don't want him feeling embarrassed. Considering having it done later.
