settlement from accident

My lawyer demanded 23,000 they came back with 12,000 so he gets his portion, i have outstanding medical bills so it'll go to that and I'd get 2000. Does that sound about right? I obviously never been in this situation I trust him this company of lawyers is like one of the best around my area. I just wanted to hear a second opinion I guess. And said he was going to try to get a few more thousand out of them. And I should be hearing back soon.
