Painful cervical check!

So I had my midwife do a cervical check at my 38 week appointment today because she offered and I just assumed that's what you do. It honestly shocked me how painful it was! I mean I was expecting some discomfort like with any pelvic exam but holy mother it hurt like crazy! I ended up spotting for the rest of the day (my midwife assured me that's nothing to worry about) and now feel very sore every time the baby's head moves near my cervix. After reading a bit more about the purpose of pre-labor cervical checks, I am learning that there actually is no real purpose in a normal pregnancy, as dilation prior to active labor has no predictive value in determining when you'll actually go into labor. So basically, there is really no point. I wish I had realized this before my appointment. 😑 I will not be getting checked again until things are actually starting to happen.
