my birth story! 34 hour long labor!

Ga
My baby boy was due October 24th but there was no sign of him! I had an appointment that day with my midwife and I was only 1cm dilated and about 60% effaced. I went home and just went about my day like normal! My husband had to go to work at 3am and I woke up when he got home at 11am. I went to the restroom and noticed it was really watery when I wiped. My mom came into my room, and I told her, "I think I'm leaking!" So we came straight to L&D. They admitted me, checked my fluid and sure enough my water had broken! At this point it was about 12:30pm. I got settled into my room, and I got checked and I was only 2cm. They gave me two doses of cytotek to help me dilate and thin out, and then a vagina dose at 11pm. At that point, I hadn't progressed any further. We decided to wait until the morning to start pitocin, which I was trying to avoid but since my water had broken already, I was at risk for an infection. As soon as pitocin started, I could barely function. I tried walking around the unit, only to be stopped every time I had a contraction and brought into tears every single time. I went back to my room and asked for the epidural, something I swore I wouldn't do. But after having been in labor for about 16 hours at this point, and not having gotten any sleep, I needed relief. I was in SO much pain. I got the epidural, which was a terrifying experience for me. I'm scared of needles and as soon as the doctor put the needle in my back, I was crying. But after it took effect, I was able to finally rest and get some sleep. I eventually dilated to a five, and then suddenly I was dilated to a 9 and a half. I was feeling a lot of pressure and pain and the midwife said it's time to start pushing! My epidural (of course) decided to wear off at this point, and I felt EVERYTHING. I've never screamed so much in my life. But I pushed for an hour and my son, Liam Kingston was born, and every ounce of pain was worth it. My water broke on at 10:30am on the 25th and he was born at 6:23pm on the 26th.
