Fibroid?

During my us today the dr said he saw what he thinks might be a fybroid and will be able to get a better look at my 20 wk appointment.  That's all he said. I've been looking online and it says that it doesn't cause issues during pregnancy but  if it's close to the cervix it could mean I'd have to have a c section which I don't want to do. I also read that it could possibly require a histerectomy...which is devastating to me. Has anyone had experience with this during their pregnancy?

I'm prone to fibroids and had them removed last October. Unfortunately, they're back (most likely due to pregnancy hormones). My doctors and I are not worried as long as the fibroids don't impede upon baby's development. My fibroids get mapped at every ultrasound. If they do and it's possible, the surgeon will remove them prior by going through my cervix. Am 22w5d and so far, so good.

I had it throughout my first pregnancy and had to bed rest at 6 months but it turn out fine. Hopefully this second pregnancy will be be batter.

I had 4, one in each quadrant of my uterus, and each around 3-5cm. They became problematic when they began degenerating.  Extremely painful to the point where I was in the hospital for weeks at a time, the finally placed on bedrest from Jan-June my delivery date.  Not to mention it makes delivery more painful too.  Not trying to scare you but prepare you if in the same position.

I had 3 fibroids my first pregnancy. The largest ending up at 15.9cm. I ended up having an emergency c-section due to the baby being in distress. After 12 hrs on pitocin I only dilated a cm.

I'm pregnant with my second and I'm a scheduled c-section due to my fibroids again. I wanted to try for a VBAC, but the dr said I would more than likely end up in surgery, so we selected a date.

Oh and I forgot to mention, you only need a hysterectomy if it's a very severe case with multiple and really large fibroids. They would do surgery to remove the actual fibroid if it were big enough Long before a hysterectomy.

I had seven fibroids before I got pregnant. When I had my 20 week scan they could see that they were growing so I had to have another scan at 32 weeks. Luckily they're all far enough away from my cervix that I can deliver naturally. I'm 37 weeks now and don't need another scan. But I had to come to terms with the fact that I may have to have a c section for the safety of both me and my baby. 
You just need to focus on you and your growing baby and enjoy this amazing time.

There are a bunch of different types of fibroids, some are actually quite common even pre-pregnancy. I have one, I forget the type. It's fine & pretty harmless.
Things that matter are type, size, position. Try not to Google- it'll only cause stress & worry. Wait and see what the doctor says.
Generally, fibroids rarely become cancerous & women with fibroids usually have normal pregnancies.
