I need to start using BC like asap. But I'm not sure what to look into. I'm interested in the shot or implant but I've heard that it causes you to gain weight? I've also thought about just the normal pill but I'm very forgetful about things like that. Advice or suggestions??

IUD is a great option. Low hormone dosage and no pills. A little painful when you first get it but a great option! I would go to the doc - my GYN doc was so helpful when I was deciding. There's nothing better than having stress free sex on the right BC option! Good luck!

If there is any chance you might occasionally forget to take your BC pill, I would avoid getting it. I hate taking pills and I'm also very forgetful so I specifically asked my doctor for an alternative to the pill. He recommended the Mirena IUD. I've had it for over 4 years and I've loved it! I don't get periods, there's no reason to mess around with condoms, and I never have to think about whether I remembered my birth control or not.

Long before getting pregnant I was on depo for a couple years and never seemed to have a problem with it! Any birth control can have the side effect of weight gain, but the shot was nice because I could go 3 months and not have to worry about anything. As with pill, I forgot. The patch just wasn't comfortable and I didn't like it. and IUD I was scared to do lol I say do the shot!! 😊

I have the implant in and it's caused me to loose weight and look overall better but become very emotional and angry all the time

I use Nuvaring and it's fantastic. It's a low dose of hormones so no mood swings, no weight gain etc. you don't have to remember to take something everyday like the pill. Just switch the ring every four weeks. You can even skip your period if you want which is handy.

i have the pill and i've had no side effects. my friend is on the shot and she gained like 40 lbs 😅

Weight gain is a side effect that can happen yes but it just depends on your body and how it reacts to that certain bc i was on the pill and never gained same with mirena but with mirena i had extremely heavy bleeding the entire time i had it and i had it for almost 2 years turned out i had a cyst caused by the mirena but id still recommend it because even though it didnt work out for me it might work out for someone else
