When is the best time to try for a baby?

I've gone to doctor's and they said five days before my ovulating period is a good time to try but I'm very small and have had a miscarriage before so I'm kinda scared.. Does anyone have any tips? Or has anyone been in my situation?

Personally, when we're ready to try for baby #2 (our first was a surprise), my main focus is going to be just keeping it fun. Just have sex whenever we want, no worries, no stressing, no pressure, no ovulation tests. I think it's important not to let sex start to feel like a chore (making yourself have sex because you're ovulating even if you're not in the mood). And don't let yourself feel like a failure if you don't get pregnant. It can take time. It's normal for a perfectly healthy couple to try for up to a year before getting pregnant. Just have fun with it!
