Kissing

So my boyfriend doesn't want to kiss me that much, and one day I got so frustrated with him that I finally asked why, because he didn't when we first started dating (he was a virgin at the time) and his response was that he doesn't want to because he gets a boner every time but he doesn't get that sometimes I just want to mess around and kiss him (not have sex every time though I do have a high sex drive) does anyone else's SO do this?
