Misinformation screwed my future
This summer The community college in my city told me they would drop me from my classes if I didn't make a down payment of $2000 because there was a problem with my financial aid. I couldn't do that so I gave them my paperwork but just decided not to follow up because I didn't think I was ready this semester to go back and since I was told I was dropped I thought that was that. I'd try again in the future. Well today I got an email asking me to take a survey about my teachers. I was confused since I didn't have teachers so I called Them. Turns out I was never dropped. And my financial aid dispersed. So I've been enrolled in classes this whole time and never knew it so my GPA is in the toilet. This could effect me ever getting financial aid in the future. And it could effect me ever getting to go back to school. So now I'm going to have to fight to appeal it. But if I don't win the appeal then the chances of me ever going back to school and getting any kind of degree are slim to none. I was never notified. I had no idea any of this was happening. They had been sending emails to my school email which I don't even have the password to. But the head financial aid lady told me that this will be a he said she said kind of a deal. So I might be screwed for someone in the financial aid department giving me the wrong information. I was told that if the paperwork was approved I would have to go back and resign up for all the classes myself. Not that they'd keep me in all the classes. I don't even know where to start and I am so stressed out. I've considered talking to my uncle who is an attorney to see if he can help me. Should this really be put on me?
