baby shower during holidays??

So I originally wanted to avoid the holidays but after talking with family/friends. It made more sense to do it right around Christmas when my family will be in town. We aren't doing anything to big as far as baby shower plus I just think that the ppl that matter to me to be there, will! Most people I know don't go out of town for holidays either. For some reason I just wanted to avoid holidays but after I told others that, they kinda just blankly asked...why? My sister reminded me there's still some down time even around holidays, and it's not like it's on Christmas. Any thoughts? Would you do yours around this time?
