is it normal having a period on the pill??😱

I've been bleeding for about 2 weeks now and before I was on the pill I had my period for 7 days at the most... As my doctor was prescribing me the pill she told me about the symptoms and spotting was one of them but she never mentioned having a long ass period :( the flow hasn't been very heavy just light on the pad and a bit more flow with a tampon. It's kind of inconsistent, I thought it stopped at 5 days then came back the next day, I feel like it might be spotting but how long is it meant to last I'm still taking the pill. I have my formal next Thursday and I'm wearing a WHITE DRESS dear God I hope it stops by the end of this week I'm so irritated by it and how it's just a light flow but it doesn't seem to want to leave. HELP PLEASE!!
