SO has shingles!!??

Question

Hubby has the shingles . We are on a strict no touch, not even sleep in the same bed orders from his doctor. Really bummed out and concerned. He's had it for over a week now. I am vaccinated from chicken pox also had them as an infant. Supposively there is no risk of in vaccinated. Still nervous though. Has anyone had to deal with shingles or know anyone who has?

may I ask where you are??? I am in Boston and my friend and boss had shingles the past 2 weeks. kinda strange sonce they are both very young.   you should be okay jsut dont touch his rash!

Never known anyone that had to be around shingles while pregnant. But shingles is only contagious when it's in the blister stage. Like at work, I can't see patients that are in the blister stage but if they are out of that stage and on antibiotics I can be around them. Just be careful. Don't sleep in the same bed, and when you can, wash the sheets, don't use the same towels, etc...

I had shingles a month ago. In fact, I can still see where they were, not all disappeared yet. I was on meds for a week. Itchy with very little pain. They were at my waist area from front of belly to middle of back on the left side. After 2 week I had forgotten I even had it.

When my sister and now dad have it the dr warned I could get if I touched the area then my mouth or cut to give it a direct route in. Guaranteed I wasn't touching or licking the area.
