I'm 18 and I'm messing around with a 16yo is this wrong

I've been talking to this guy and we just hit it off and he's sweet as can be and his friends told me he was 17 about to be 18, well come to find out he's 16 about to be 17 in January. He told me the reason he lied about his age was because he knew I wouldn't talk to him if I knew. He treats me extreamy well and acts much older that most the guys my age. I also just turned 18 back in June. But because of how much younger he is I'm not sure if I should continue or does it really even matter.
