Do you ask your SO permission?

Before I make any decisions I normally ask my boyfriend. Today a friend texted me asking if I wanted to get my nails done, I automatically thought and told her I need to ask my boyfriend. Right now with me not having a job I know he would through that in my face. So I said I won't get anything done,I'll just hangout while you get them done, then I started to think more...that I would have to cook...clean the kitchen...he thinks it's a waste of money. I ended up telling her no I couldn't. Do you have to be in a relationship long enough to tell your SO your going out that you'll be back later?
