hurt feelings

So my boyfriend when he gets mad he doesn't hit me or anything but he will hit other things and throw stuff and get really annoyed, today he got annoyed at me for over thinking things and then got distant so I got distant back because I just wanted to be comforted and it's annoyed that he can't understand I can help it, anyway he is blaming me and saying I got distant first so I went to the other room to get peace in quiet to calm down and he followed and tried turning on the tv and I asked him not to and he then got mad slammed the remote on table and I asked to be alone after he called me bitch he went got dressed and left.. what do I do? Getting called names hurts a lot I love him so much..
