BBT? Am I doing this wrong?

Question

So I just started taking my BBT for the first time ever 
 nd I'm confused as to why there's such a fluctuation in my temps. I read that under 97 is normal pre ovulation and that my temp should rise .50 to 1 degree...How am I ever gonna know when I have ovulated if it's this random?

Answer

You won't know your ovulation day until there are 3 consecutive high temps. It will be the day before the first of the three high temps. A lot of factors can make your temp seem all over. For example if you sleep with your mouth open or get up during the night. Try to start temping closer to the same time every morning like no more than a 30 min difference. Temping was crazy confusing for me at first too.

Are you taking it "at rest" and same time everday?  I am just about to start temping as soon as AF leaves...but from what I've read so far it's same time each day and when you haven't been active. Like right when you wake up before getting out of bed. Baby dust to you!
