Baby's kicks are starting to hurt?

I woke up to a weird pain on the left side of my lower stomach last night, and I realized that the pain was caused by my baby kicking me. I'm 26 weeks pregnant. Is it normal to feel pain this early, is the baby so strong already? It wasn't anything terrible, just a little uncomfortable...
