Birthing classes not offered until late January?

Question

I was talking to an OB nurse from our hospital last night since Tuesday I will finally be in my third trimester. I asked her about calling in to schedule a birthing class and she said she's pretty sure they are done with them until after the holidays in late January. Seeing as I'm due February 7th even she said that would be dangerous cutting it so close. I understand holidays but those of us due during them just don't get classes? We have to travel an hour to get to any other place she suggested. Is anyone else dealing with this?

I'm dealing with this in the Uk. I'm due Feb and they said they aren't available to give me antenatal till march😂 I'm just reading up and YouTube X

That's a tough situation to be in. The hospital system I work for (which is closest to me) isn't offering classes until after the new year, either. My first was born 12 weeks early and I still have anxiety about how traumatizing giving birth was, when I had no idea what I was doing. Everyone kept telling me to breathe, but I didn't know how (sounds sort of ridiculous to say now but in the moment it was so difficult).  This time I will be taking whatever childbirth class I can get into, even if it's 2 hours away. I do not recommend going into labor, unprepared. Hopefully you can find help closer to home.

I've always heard the ones the hospital offer suck and to opt for one outside of it. I bet you can find a local birthing center that offers one even if you aren't using the facility to birth in. There are a lot of online courses to choose from too.

Pregnancy and baby guide by mom book

So this is the name of the book I will recommend you to read ... I did birthing classss and baby classes as well .... most of the info you get there is attached to this book. Off course the classes can't be replaced because the instructor kind of makes u practice the breathing which you may not be able to do it through this book but I would suggest tht this book is good. I have a e book I read .... apart from this there are online classes available as well ... so dnt b dissappointed if you are not being able to have those classses ... off course they are important but if you need a replacement then online classes or this book are replacement options u may like to consider. .. good luck ahead

I booked and paid for our breast feeding and birthing classes as well as an OB Unit tour back in August for the first week of December. They're offered thru the hospital we will deliver at. They had options Sept. thru January and I, like you, didn't want to cut it too close in January. I'm due 02/09. Maybe you could find and take online courses or just read up on tons of books and materials as a second option?? Good luck!
