gripe water?

My baby is 1week old has been eating and pooping just fine. She cries when I put her in her basket and always wants to be held! Can I give her some gripe water as she may have a painful stomach?

Personally, I would not give gripe water. My daughter was the same way the first few weeks of her life. They are just getting used to being outside the womb and want to be cuddled because they feel safe. It's up to you if you want to give the gripe water but I chose not to because it's perfectly normal for them to always want to be held. I got no sleep because the only way she would sleep would be on my chest. Not that's she's 5 weeks she still likes to be cuddled, especially while going through a growth spurt but not like when she was just born. I asked my pediatrician about the gripe water and she said to only use as a last resort as some babies have had a server allergic reaction to it. I would contact your pediatrician and ask their opinion just to be on the safe side. 😊 But things will get better as she gets used to the outside world.

Sounds like a normal newborn to be. Gripe water won't change that.

I'm pretty sure it can only used from a month upward.

She's only a week old she is still adjusting to the world. Get a baby Carrier or wrap and tie her on your back she will fall asleep while you do your chores or whatever you need to do. 
If she cries when you or her down just pick her up comfort her, then lay her back down again once she's calm. Keep doing this. It lets her know that you won't just abandon her once she's down. 
You can try putting her down and touching her maybe stroking her face. Again let's her know you're still there.

Swaddling can help too

If it was a stomach issue, your baby would fuss even if you held her. So, no, I wouldn't do gripe water. Try swaddling or a swing or tucking her close by you but not on you if you don't want to hold her. She is looking for comfort similar to the womb: warmth, rocking, motion, calm...

She just wants held. And she's going to want to be held for a while. 
See if someone else can hold her so you can sleep. 
We ended up co-sleeping for a couple months and it was terrifying.

My baby does exactly same , if he is feeding well then I wouldn't give gripe water at
This early age. Babies are probably used to womb and they feel comfy when we hold them . My baby z 11 days old today and he was doing the same thing sleeping on my chest. We bought a small bassinet for him then and started giving him formula but I still continue to breast feed. Formula makes his tummy full and now he sleeps in his bassinet.

Try putting own of your shirts in the basket with her so she can smell you. Another good trick is a warm rice bag tucked next to her to mimic body warmth
