foley ballon?

Anyone get induced with the foley ballon, if so how bad did it hurt & how long after that did you go into labor ?!

I am getting on on the 9th....I am so ready....I hope my body does the rest of the work because I know pictocin contractions hurt like a mutha with my first daughter

I had it with my first when I was 40w1 day and not dilated at all and my fluids were low. Balloon sat for 12 hours and got me to a 6. Pitocin started. Start to finish it was 24 hours but part of that was because my daughter was sunny side up so I pushed her for 2.5 hours. Balloon is not fun but it's effective! If it's making you that uncomfortable get an Epi!

Had it with my first took about 3-5 hours to go from 1cm to 3cm. It's uncomfortable and pressure. Also just depends of the level of pain and discomfort u can tolerate. Good luck!!  I heard there's a pill instead of a foley balloon. I had my daughter almost 40 hours after I past balloon. Just remember every woman is different and you might have a faster delivery than I did! Good luck!

I am a labor and delivery nurse. The foley balloons can be a bit uncomfortable but are very effective! I'm guessing you are dilated already? They usually get you to 4-5cm and then start a pitocin drip through your IV after, if your body doesn't take over by itself.  Congrats on your baby!!

I got one with my second to try and help things along as we were hoping for a vbac. It got me to around a 3-4. I dont remember any pain or discomfort from it. The only annoyance was having the tube taped to my leg and having to make sure it didnt get caught on my clothing.

Came out on its own night before I went in to be induced.
