The Patch

I just started the patch about a month ago (because I can't do the shot and I suck at taking pills) So a week into starting my patch I got a transvaginal ultrasound for a check on my ovaries. And the tech noticed some blood she said it would be normal to bleed for a few days but after 2-3 days if it is continuing to call my doctor. Sooooo 3 days later still bleeding not a lot but enough to have to wear a regular sized tampon. And the blood was brownish red not bright red (which is normal after that kind of check up?) I called my doctor and she said she didn't think it was a complication of the check up but a side effect of the patch. So she said wait a few more days and call her back if the bleeding didn't stop. Unfortunately my period started the day I was supposed to call her and it also happen to be my rest week for the patch so I had my normal 5 day period. And no more bleeding. So is it from the patch? Or just a MAJOR coincidence?

Also what other options birth control wise should I use that isn't a pill or depo.
