guys I need relationship advice. because I don't know how to feel about this😩

So my guy and I have been "dating" I think? For a while now (almost a year) he says that he never made it official as in the question "will you be my girlfriend" because everything fell into place, we love each other, are faithful to each other and blah blah. he says were in a relationship with no title. This is the part that stumbles me, why not the title of were playing the part? His argument is that "you don't need a title to feel entitled" or "if you take off a Mercedes Benz emblem you still have a Mercedes" but who wants to buy a Mercedes if the emblem is missing? I feel like the title is important to me because it lets me know that we aren't in the talking stage anymore and it puts everything in stone and it lets me know that I'm not wasting my time. Could it be that he's comfortable where he's at now and don't want to push it farther? I need advice. I don't know how to take this 😢
