alcohol while breastfeeding?

I exclusively breastfeed but tonight my husband is having a couple friends over, do you think I could have one beer with them? The beer is only 5% alcohol. My son is 6 months and I still haven't had one drink because I'm so worried but I read that just one beer would be fine. What do you guys think?

My lactation consultant told me there is no reason to pump and dump.  She said use the same theory with breast milk as your blood with alcohol.  It takes about an hour for one beer to leave your system.  So if you feed your kiddo before you drink.  Have a drink, or two.  Wait a couple hours before feeding him again

if you really wanna drink pump before you do so you can have sum breastmilk for your baby when hungry. Do not breast feed your baby when your drinking .

You will be fine! You can pump before your beer or feed your little one before you start. If you're ever uncertain if your milk is safe or not you can buy the alcohol test strips to see if it's okay for the baby to drink or not :)  treat yeo self!

My friend said she was allowed 3 beers while breast feeding. She pumped. I can't remember exactly how it happened but that's what i remember.

There is no need to pump and dump. You can have a drink and still breastfeed. The dr told me as long as your fine to drive your fine to breastfeed. The only way to get alcohol out of your milk it to wait. As long as it's in your blood it's in your milk so pumping and dumping doesn't do anything unless you need some release. You absolutely can! Pump and dump is a myth. If you are sober enough to drive you can still breastfeed.

If youre sober to drive youre sober to feed just make sure baby eats before you start drinking after an hour or so alcohol will be gone and breastmilk will be completely fine. No reason to pump and dump
