Has Anyone tried cry it out method to sleep train their baby?

Hi ladies , I tried this method last night and believe me - I was so depress, my baby was crying so much and she was sobbing so badly, seeing her I felt that my world is getting destroyed. How much this method is effective? And anybody tried it ? What your feeling was? Shall I continue it or stop it ??

I'm not a fan of CIOA. Studies have shown that babies need to be comforted by their parents when they cry. They're not being spoiled /manipulative / etc. That being said - it's your choice mama. Do what you feel is best for you and your family.

We did a very controlled cry it out method at 7 weeks and it worked for us. I'm sure I'll get bashed for this but I know my child. It took 2 days and now he sleeps like a champ

The only thing I can say is that i depends on the age of your baby. Younger than 6 months is too young. It can actually mess them of developmentally.

If she is younger than 6 months you shouldn't be sleep training.

Sleep training should only take 3-4 days. If it is taking longer than this then you need to stop and wait a few months.

I sleep trained my daughter with a modified Cry It Out method at 9.5 months and it took 3 nights, with the third night having very little to no crying.

Also, you could be in the middle of a sleep regression and those are just plain hard. And NO sleep training should be done while going through it.

Hi! As someone with a lot of knowledge in child psychology due to a degree, what I know is after 6 months letting a baby cry themselves to sleep is not going to cause psycholocal issues in their trust or connection to parents. Before 6 months there is extensive research to show high levels of stress, anxiety and relationship issues. That being said, these issues can happen to anyone, and if the cry it out method is what works for you, that's completely your choice.

I did it with my 1 1/2 year old, she cried the first night for a total of 2 minutes and that was the end of it my sons 2 months so his too young to start but his a pretty good sleeper anyway and doesn't really need any intervention

I know a lot of people that did it at 8 weeks old and it was torture on the parents but once they get through it they get on a schedule.  Just keep reminding yourself that they will not remember it.

It depends. If youve tried eveything and they still dont calm down and your getting agitated its best to leave them for a bit until you are ready to try something else. Were all human and there do come those moments where its overwhelming my dr always told me leave the room before you get frustrated. So i know some people may speak against the cio method i wouldnt say we practiced that as a whole with my son. But there were some nights when he was a newborn and i was healing and it was my night (my husband and i alternated nights which well do again this time)   and i tried everything and he just cried that ide just lay by his rock n play n rock him back and fourth and hope hed calm down eventually. I used to read the scary things people wrote about how scarring it can be to let a baby cry it out and then realized thats what my mom did and my mil did my grandmother did my sister in law does and what the dr advised (on some occasions) and while i personally only did it on nights when i needed a mental/physical break there are many moms who do it to sleep train and swear by it. Including my sister in law and her kids are the happiest little things out there. So to each their own but dont feel like your a bad mom if sleep training via the cio method is what you need to do for sanitys sake! Good luck!
