Tampon allergy

The last two months and the end of my period my vag starts to burn and get irritated. I am wondering if it is my hormones or if I am allergic to my pads or tampons. Has this ever happened to anyone else. Went to the doctors and got a culture done and came back negative and I changed my laundry detergent to a free and clear. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this
