mucus plug

So the past couple of days I've been having greenish discharge?? Is this the mucus plug? I went to l&d Thursday for having contractions but they sent me home and said they weren't close enough ... but that not diluted and cervix is soft .. does this mean labor is soon ?? I have been feeling losts of cramping and back pain but don't want to go back to l&d to be sent home ..
