Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge on the laws of filing for divorce in america ?

Unfortunately with me being a UK citizen I have to go by the UK laws and they say I have to be married for a hear before being able to divorce my husband but I don't want to wait that long, we've only been married 7 months I just want to cut all ties and go!

So it is now up to my husband to file for divorce instead and go by his laws in the US. If it helps.... We married in Florida. Now he told me that after 6 months of being married we can legally divorce, I was happy with that but he panicked and said that because he is in the army the laws change so he has to wait a year instead. (Then tried to take me back).

Does anyone know if that is remotely true ? I cannot afford to speak to anyone about it as I have no income and he supports me a bit financially

When I first told him how long I have to wait to divorce he said that because we've been married less than a year he will get an annulment and the reason he will put is that he married me as a joke. Funnily enough we married on the 1st april. I then brought it to his attention the trouble he will get in through the army for going ahead with this "joke of a marriage" by accepting double pay from them.

So he told me not to worry.
