to work or not?

Question

If you had the perfect home environment to stay home during the entirety of your pregnancy would you? If you'd want to work, why? I would just like to hear other women's opinions on the subject. I went from working full time to part time upon finding out I was pregnant & I'm conflicted about the arrangement. Ladies, your thoughts?

If I could I would rather stay home as I have two other kids as well, id love to be a stay at home mom but I can't. I am working during my pregnancy because here in Canada (not sure where you are) I can collect maternity leave for 12 months when baby is born and that's what I'm working for, to make sure I have enough hours to take mat leave.

I'm currently not working and am about 9 weeks along. Not completely by choice...just circumstance. I'm honestly glad I don't have to work during this first trimester. I can schedule doc appointments and just be sick when I'm sick. I am job hunting and plan to be back to work shortly.

I work from home for an online company so I guess I am a little spoiled. I am supposed to go into the office once a week but I said I was having "medical issues". No one sees me throwing up, I can take a lunch nap if I need it and sneak out for drs appointments. I have a best of both worlds scenario for now, full pay and at home.

I need to work to get my mind off my anxieties. I do work at home which is nice. I can easily nap if needed.

I wish I could stay home. I work in the restaurant industry and it's been hard going to work especially with all the smells.

With my first pregnancy, I worked up until the day I had my son. I'm a speech pathologist, and worked in the school system, so it wasn't physically strenuous or anything; although it was really hard to keep moving when I just wanted to go to sleep, lol. After I had him, we decided for me to quit and be a stay at home mama for awhile. Fast forward 8.5 months, and I am 9.5 weeks pregnant with our second, and will continue to stay at home. I am hired as PRN with a few hospitals and nursing homes around the area, so I occasionally get asked if I want to work a weekend here and there, which is super nice because of the flexibility but consistent ability to supplement our family's income if needed/wanted.

I work full time office work, 9 hour day andeat at my desk. I'm working Saturdays if needed. I'm really tired, sick and frustrated. But you do what you have to do, we really need my paycheck.

If I had the option I would stay home through the pregnancy. At least while I have zero energy and I work in child care, so I feel useless to my 16 preschoolers. 😓

I'm working through as much of this pregnancy as I can! I think I'd go mad sitting at home all day every day personally. I don't have any other children though, so that's part of it. As long as it's not twins, I'll be returning to work after the baby is born as well (though I'm a nanny and work in a daycare, so baby will come with me!) kind of the best of both worlds 💗

I'd love to stay at home but if the guilt eats at you, don't cause yourself unnecessary stress and work. That's my opinion
