THE "OPEN WHEN..." GIFT?

So my boyfriend's birthday is coming up (as is Christmas) and I was thinking about doing the open when gift for him (if you've never heard of it, you get a bunch of envelopes that say something like open when you miss me and there's something inside, whether it's a letter gift card or present) and they're meant to last for a while to be opened on certain occasions. We're long distance so I thought it might be sorta cute. My boyfriend isn't a huge fan of gushy stuff so I'm scared of being a bit cheesy, but I love him to bits and it's something I'd really like to do. Has anyone given this gift before? How did your SO react? Any ideas would be welcome too🤗

I did it for my boyfriend right before we went long distance and he loved them. It was a really heartfelt and personal gift that gives for a while

I did this with my ex and he thought it was super weird because he wasn't gushy but he slowly started to open them on specific occasions and he loved them. I wrote him letters and when we broke up, he kept them and he didn't open them. Finally after about 6 months of us being broken up, we hung out and I found them in his room. He kept them and read them all. Even guys who aren't cheesy, like these things when they miss you. I promise that it makes an impact.
