Taking over the counter meds?

I haven't taken any over the counter  Medications but I'm about too since my body has been aching the past 3 days. My Dr okayed Tylenol but didn't mention how many I could take at once * 1 or 2* what do you guys take for pain relief ?

You can take two extra strength tylenol (500 mg each) every four hours upto 4 times in 24 hours.

My Dr told me I could take 2-3 every 6 hours. I've been having killer headaches but that's all I take.
