Has anyone made a long road trip with your LO??

Question

So hubby and I may be slightely crazy. We've planned a trip from where we live in Houston, TX to Palm Beach, Fl (south Florida), google maps says it's 16hrs. Any tips traveling in the car for so long with an almost 5month old?? Also, I've already talked with her pediatrician and he gave the go ahead, and I plan on sitting in the back with her to try and keep her entertained.

I have only done a 4 hour trip and have done it solo. I would recommend having favorite toys handy, put pacifiers in a Tupperware or similar storage so they are all together and clean, and stop every 2-3 hours to get baby out of car seat. My usual four hour trip turned into a 6 hour trip so be prepared for it to take longer than 16 hours. Maybe stop at a motel for the night so it is not a long day for everyone.

We went from NJ to Boston, normally a 4-5 hr drive took us 7 hrs. We stopped a lot. My son isn't a fan of the car, he refused to take a bottle. He screamed a lot. The way home was much better because we learned a lesson and left at the time he would normally go to sleep, he slept peacefully almost the whole way home. So my only advice is try to travel at night.

I am on my 6th road trip since having my little guy right now!  We go down to another state frequently to see family. It's about. 7-9 hours drive and my little guy does great. We have to stop a few times to change him and let him out to stretch but he does a great job. 😃 just make sure you have food and toys and it helps!

My husband wants to drive from SoCal to northwest Washington to visit family for Christmas. We normally love road trips, but I'm a little worried about how it will go with a 6 month old baby, especially during winter!

We live in Michigan and went to North Carolina with our then 4mo old. It was a 10 hour drive. We left when she would normally go to sleep so that she would stay on schedule and not sleep all day. We stopped 3 times to feed her and stretch and she did great. It wasn't ideal letting her sleep in her car seat but she was well watched over by us.

I only made a four hour trip when my n daughter was three.   She slept the entire time.

We made the trip from Indiana to Arizona when our son was 2 months old. When he was was 3 months we went back to Indiana. That's a 27 hour drive and we did it twice!
Our son loves car rides so it was really easy. He slept through most of it. We stopped every 4 hours or for diaper changes and feedings. Other than that he just chilled in his car seat.

I've only done 2 hour maybe a little more  trips and as soon as we hit the highway he falls asleep the rest of the way I make sure he's well fed and clean and I don't need anything I take everything just in case right

We just did a 3 hr trip. And I thought that was rough! So good luck mama! I sat in the back and brought all of his favorite toys and my phone charger because we love to listen to disco! As awful as this sounds as far as time goes,if your LO isn't asleep I would pull over at a rest stop every 1 1/2 hrs to 3 hrs to stretch and walk abound outside! And ofcource change diaper to prevent open wound rash.
