can you get an LH surge before your period?

Rebecca • 27, TTC my second baby. I love my husband for giving me baby #1 who is the most amazing gift in the world!!
Last two days I was spotting light pink in morning but only when I wiped......today it's like a very watery pink but only when I wipe. I just took an opk and although not positive it looks quite darker than it normally does! Can you get an LH surge just before your period? I am due on today x
