trying to be nice and help out and people are rude!

This girl is constantly posting how she doesn't have money for formula and gas to get to work so she keeps losing jobs. I'm not judging her situation at all because I know 0% of what her actual situation is. I only see what is posted and commented on said posts and one post there were people hinting toward drugs, but again, not my place because we all know how people are. Well tonight I happen to see she is out of gas and said she will get fired if she misses work tomorrow. I happen to be off and am able to give her a ride to work, didn't ask for anything in return I offered to prevent her getting terminated. She seemed turned off by the offer because I offered to give her a ride and not give her cash for gas. I know this girl from high school and we have friends in common and live in a small town, two women (I'm pregnant), no threat just helping. Maybe I can understand being hesitant but being rude because I didn't offer cash straight up but offered to take her? 1. I don't have money to just hand out to people, I wish so much that I did 2. I'm uncomfortable with giving cash to someone when I don't know exactly where it's going when I have seen some of the things posted (I'd hate to add fuel to the fire if she does have a problem) so I tried to offer what I felt was best. Just seems like an excuse about work because that's ungrateful =\ if she asked for money for formula for example, I'd buy the formula not give her cash you know? Just made me feel sort of crappy being treated like that trying to help out in such a rough world these days 😔
