What did your contractions feel like???

Question

Tell me what your contractions felt like.

Were they painful or not? 
Did you get a throbbing in back ?

I don't remember how my first pregnancy started - I don't remember the mucous plug or bloody show at all, I went in and they told me I was at 4cm and we waited awile until I dialated more then they broke my water because it did not break.

I also do not remember how painful the contractions were. I had my first 7 years ago.

It was one of the worst pains of my life, easily comparable to a horse grabbing me by its teeth on my back and not letting go for 5 minutes. It feels like everything from your abdomen down to your thighs is tightening and tightening and the only thing you can do is breathe to attempt to stick it out. If you hold your breathe you feel more of the pain, and if you yell it doesn't take it away at all. You feel trapped in your body, like your insides are going to be completely wrung out. However nearly as quickly as it comes on it is over, the coming up is mild, the during is pretty painful and as soon as it lets off the pain "disappears".

I would not compare a contraction to "period pain", maybe like an ovarian cyst x99, but not period pain.

They were fine until I got to 7cm then they were hell. I have three kids and I gave birth to my last on Halloween and his labour was the worst. I go 💯 non medicated and I was using all things for distractions but it felt like towards the end a lot of pressure and pain and they were 1 minute apart so I didn't get a break to breathe.

For me it doesn't feel anything like a period cramp... it's like a sharp constricting burning pain that slowly gets worse and worse and then fades out.

Mine didn't get painful until after my water broke. The pain was so intense it's so hard to describe. I guess the best way is that all my insides felt like they were being pulled, squeezed and ripped apart! I did it unmediated (not by choice) but I honestly would do it again unmediated and many women do...guess we are just crazy! Lol!

How did everyone's start off as ? Like pain wise and did it feel like period pains to start off with that was bearable?

Except it was over 10 years ago & I was almost 19. Sooooo I don't remember much either 😞

Mine did feel like period cramps in my lower belly. They would tighten up and it wasn't super painful at first. My water had ruptured, so once they finished breaking my water at hospital they were stronger, but still bearable.  I did end up getting an epidural because they gave me pitocen to speed up labor and the contractions were too close together and I wasn't progressing. So I can't tell you what they feel like after being dilated past a 4, but for me they started like period cramps.

The advice of "you'll know when you are having contractions" was not helpful to me at all. I expected them to hurt more in the beginning so I didn't really think I was in labor. Couple hours later I went with my gut and went in, fully expecting them to send me home because I thought my contractions were still 15-20 min apart. And they were measuring 7 min apart on their machine.

So just keep in mind, everyone's can be different.

Started out like cramps, and once in active labor, the only way I can describe is like a severe aching in my uterus, and spreading throughout my whole body as they progressed. They come in waves, and are pretty much whole body consuming, including your mind. After 4 hours of laboring, I was at a pain level of 8 or 9, and got the epidural. They checked my dilation and I was at 8 cm! We were not expecting my to be so far along already. I want to say that if I had known I was already an 8, I would've just stuck it out and not got the epidural, but I definitely don't regret it! I suffered through the pain, and after getting the epidural, it made the whole process really enjoyable.
