does increased braxton hicks mean labor?

the past few days i've been having a few hours a day where i have contractions less than 5 min apart and as soon as i start getting ready to go to l&d they stop! i'm 3cm dilated as of tuesday. and already lost my mucus plug. just wondering if this could mean labor is very soon? (like today hopefully)
