Nora Grace's birth story

Misty
Born 11/3 at 6:23 pm, 6 lbs 13 oz and 19.25 inches long!
I was scheduled for an induction the morning of the third.... but when I got to the hospital, I was already in labor! They gave me the lowest dose of pitocin just to help regulate my contractions.
After about 2.5 hours, I asked for pain meds. About 45 more minutes and I was ready for the epidural. Unfortunately, there were 2 other women ahead of me, so it was about 30 minutes before the anesthesiologist made it to my room. I was curled up in a ball when he got there. But once it was in, the relief was almost instant. I didn't feel bad at all with it, but apparently my BP dropped pretty low with it. It took 2 shots of epinephrine to stabilize my BP. Also had to go on an O2 mask because the baby's heart rate started to drop during contractions. (Found out later it was because the cord was wrapped around her neck and got compressed for a while.)
I progressed really well, but baby girl didn't want to move down, so they adjusted my bed so I was in a sitting position with my feet below me (to let gravity help move her down). After 13 hours of labor (about 11.5 on the pitocin), I was ready to push. It took 45 minutes of pushing to get her out. I could feel just enough to know when to push. Although the last 3 pushes felt like my behind was going to explode from all the pressure! I got one 2nd degree tear that has been healing nicely.
Anyway, that's her story! So glad to finally have my little mini-me on the outside!
