using Metformin for fertility??

So I do not have PCOS but have been trying to conceive for awhile. My doctor put me on metformin to try to shorten my 35 day cycle before trying clomid. She thinks I'll get pregnant just using the metformin in the three months. Has anyone had any success stories just using metformin to conceive??
