Ovulation question

So this may be a dumb question but I don't have a lot of experience ovulating cuz I was on BCP for 11 years.... Anyways, so I know in a perfect world you switch which overy you ovulate from month to month (ie. October the left, November the right, December the left and so on) so can you have different experiences/symptoms based on what side you ovulate from? I guess what I'm asking is does anyone find they can "feel" themselve ovulate one month by cramping or whatnot but then the next month have little to no symptoms? Or is it very consistent month to month no matter the side? Hope this makes sense...
