What are you using as a changing table?

Elizabeth
We plan on using the baby's dresser as the changing table. We have a pad that will go on top, but it won't be attached to the dresser. I'm afraid it won't be safe enough, but I don't want to spend $100 on that piece of wood that goes on top of the dresser... Any ideas? What are you using as a changing table?
UPDATE: our baby is now almost 5 months old, and we change him on the dresser every time we change him. We have a pad on it, and underneath it we placed a liner that helps keep it from sliding. It's working out great!

My papa made my mom a changing table for me when I was born, I still have it so I'll use it for my babies and keep passing it down

The summer infant pad has a strap that you can anchor to the wall! That would definitely help!!

I use my couch. I have a really tiny apartment and have to share a room with the baby. I dont have space for anything but a crib and a small dresser. Don't really need a changing table, honestly. Even if i had the space i doubt id have one. I just change him wherever i am when he needs it. Haha

You could put that non slip stuff that you use under rugs. That's what I did my mine.

It'll be safe! Just as safe as changing baby anywhere else. It's not like they're ever left there alone, anyway. You're always standing right by them with your hands on them. I have a changing table but honestly I've changed her more other places than on that table lol. It's much easier to bring a diaper to wherever baby is than carry her to the table and wake her

Any flat area that's safe for a baby to lay, I use the bed, the couch, the floor, now that my son is bigger in the back steat or ever done it while he's standing up since I don't want to lay him on the floor and even on my lap I never found a need for a changing table since you only use it basically for the first months while you're at home

Just be careful, changing pads will ruin the finish. With my first I put the no-slip under it and it STILL ruined the finish. I just ended up buying a matching changing table for cheap for this next baby to save my new dresser.

You could always buy straps to attach to the dresser to keep it down, or a non slip rug at least. I plan on using the floor, bed, and couch.
