What will you focus on...

During labor??
Looking for suggestions as we are being induced tonight. When the pain gets bad or when you feel like you can't take it anymore and want to give up, what will you focus on?

My midwife just made some visualization suggestions to me this morning. One was to visualize yourself climbing a hill/mountain. Imagining the sound of your feet on the ground, the light coming through the leaves on the trees, the smell of the grass... and as you reach the peak of a contraction imagine yourself looking out over a favorite view/vista and then starting down the other side of the hill mountain as the contraction wanes. She also suggested the idea of being in a boat or riding on a wave and smelling the ocean, feeling the sun on your skin, etc... She said some moms will even report that they can smell outdoorsy smells. So there's some ideas :)

My labour was only 2.5hrs and I was in so much pain I couldn't think. Except I remember thinking when contractions first started "I need to poop, I need to poop, I need to poop" turns out it was just pressure from baby 😂

I just focused on breathing and kept walking until I couldn't anymore. When I couldn't anymore I knew I was in transition and the end was nearly there.

One thing that helped me was knowing that every contraction was bringing the baby closer to me. As painful as it could be, every contraction was helping to push the baby out.

I just focus on breathing and walking until I can't. I will lean on my husband and sway my hips during contractions. At that point its like a switch that flips and I go into this deep trance where I focus on me. Things like I can do this, not much longer now, baby is almost here. At this point I usually don't talk much if at all. Normally this is transition and once I get to push it never takes me long. My labors have been very short though and I hope that baby #4 is the same way. Not sure how I would handle a really long labor. My longest has been 5 hours.

Getting him out! Lol it worked with my son i just knew it was something i had to do and once it was over the pain would be gone, pushed him out in like 35 mins 👍🏼

With my second, I had my husband put on music and I focused on relaxing my jaw and hands (you don't want to clench either) through contractions. I cat napped in between contractions when they were further apart which helped me not over think things. I had a photo of my older son nearby to focus on too when I needed to. Something to remind me of the end result!! I also asked my husband to help keep external noises at bay bc I found I was very easily distracted and bugged by them.

I focus on a vbac!!! Trying not to get the epidural until about 7-8 centimeters dilated
Walk/squat and relax!!!
