Would you hire a male babysitter/nanny?

I babysit multiple days a week and was thinking about how well I get paid for such an easy job. I know both my boyfriend and brother have told me they wish they could babysit, and they could definitely use the extra money. It seems like all babysitters are female, which I think is unfair because some guys are amazing with children! Would you hire a male babysitter? Why or why not?

I absolutely would, as long as they have all the credentials, would allow me to do a police check, has first aid and CPR certificates, working with children certificates and a good level of hospitality skills.

I worked at a daycare that employed males and they were just as good with the kids as the girls. It should be more of an individual decision rather than a gender decision imo.

If I'm being absolutely honest then no. I know that's really sexist but I just don't think I could do it. Besides, I wouldn't want anyone but family watching my kids regardless

To be fair I don't think I could hire a nanny/babysitter or anyone to look after my kids unless it's my parents or this one particular nanny that has been with our family for years.

Definitely! It couldn't be a random stranger though. I wouldn't accept a random female stranger either. But I see no problem with that. My boys are super hyper and like to play rough(thanks to their daddy) anyway and most women don't like that. It would be better to have someone that could get in their level.

Nobody ever watches my children except my mother and SO. But in general, I don't think boys should be able to babysit girls unless family. Just my opinion though.

No I wouldn't. Pedophiles are more likely to be men. They can be women of course, but abuse usually starts with men. So no I wouldn't. And abuse is often to happen within the family or someone the child trusts. It's a slippery slope. I wouldn't just have anyone watch my kid

Pedophellia seems the be more common in men, that and men often seem to be completely clueless about taking care of children. Perhaps both stereotypes are incorrect but it's not a risk I'm willing to take. I wouldn't hire a nanny anyway unless she was highly qualified and few men are Borland nanny material
