How long after beginning new pills can I ditch the condoms?

I am aware of the statistics regarding the effectiveness of bc pills, but I am wondering what the consensus is regarding how long after beginning new (combination) pills one should wait before being able to safely have sex without condoms (after not being on any kind of hormonal bc). Basically, just how long does it take for new pills to reach the point of their maximum effectiveness when taken perfectly? I've seen conflicting information.

Specifically Apri, though that probably doesn't matter.
