Why am I still getting periods

Question

I have been ttc for 5 years with no success. I am under a fertility Doctor who has just informed me I am not ovulating and I need further tests but I am still getting regular monthly periods. I will possibly sound stupid but I always thought if you weren't ovulating you didn't get periods. Can anybody explain this or have a similar experience?

My husband and I had been TTC for 7 years. I was getting my periods regularly. When I was 17 I got pregnant with twins and it was not planned... so I didn't think that I would have a problem when we started TTC. I went to the doctor and it turned out I wasn't ovulating. I was put on clomid to help me ovulate and we conceived our first cycle! Hope this helps. Good luck ♡

The system that builds up the uterine lining isn't exactly the same system that's responsible for ripening and releasing an egg, so yes, it's possible to have one and not the other.

You can get periods and not ovulate. That's why they fo the hormone test on day 21 to see if you indeed ovulate

I'm not regular. I get it every 3-9 months. I don't ovulate either. My doctor said only part of my hormones are working and I'm completely missing some. Some months I have more so I have a period but still no ovulation.
