Does the pill instantly stop your period

If I take the pill on the first day of my period, I know I will be protected from then on, but will that period then stop, or get lighter or will it just continue? and if I take the pill a few days before my period, will it delay it? Thank you xxx

It will continue because you're not used to the pill after a couple days it will lighten

that's how I started the pill. I still had my period like usual but I spotted for like ten days after which was weird because I never have spotting. Only happened the first month though.

Itll take a couple cycles to lighten you period if the pill will do that for you.. it doesnt do it for everyone.. it will not delay your period if you take it before i dont think but it will most likely mess up your cycle because the pill is set up so you get your period on the placebo week and if you start the pill at a time thats not the first day or during your period the time wont line up

Take the pill exactly how your doctor instructed you. The first time you take it, it will not change anything, nor will you be protected from day 1, it takes about 5-7 days for the pill to be effective so don't go having unprotected sex thinking your protected. The next time your period comes around in the cycle, you can choose to skip it if your taking the pills. You need to have your period every 3 cycles in order for your body to remain healthy. After a few months the pill should regulate your periods, and lighten your flow, there might be some breakthrough bleeding, don't be alarmed.
