Getting baby's position checked at 32 weeks?

Is it normal to have the baby's position checked as early as 32 weeks? I'm currently 29 weeks but during my anatomy scan at 20 weeks the doctor made me a follow-up ultrasound to check the baby's position at 32 weeks. From my understanding this is usually done closer to your due date, around 38 weeks maybe? Has anyone else had a similar experience or possibly better insight on this? Thanks in advance!
